TEFAP ERA Reminder – FIFO is the Way to Go!
All TEFAP product must be distributed using the “First In, First Out” (FIFO) method. USDA strictly prohibits distributing expired product to clients. FBR is required to ensure all product is distributed by our partners prior to the expiration date. The allocation spreadsheet provides you with the expiration date for all products being distributed during the month. ERA’s that are having problems distributing items should contact FBR USDA Staff for assistance.
The TEFAP Inventory Tracking form is sent out each month for you to report your Individuals, Households or Meals served and the inventory you have left at your facility. The Inventory portion of the report specifically asks for the quantity in cases and/or units and the expiration date of the product. Please fill out this portion completely for each item you are reporting.
Our staff is here to help you and answer your questions. If you are unsure or need extra help, please contact us!
Don’t Let Kids in Your Neighborhood Go Hungry this Summer!
For many kids, summer is the hungriest time of year.
Without school breakfast and lunch, some families struggle to pay for extra
meals.
Make sure to share information about summer meals sites
where kids and teenagers can get free meals all summer long. Text FOOD to 877-877 to find sites near you –
then spread the word with your friends. Or visit https://www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks to locate nearby sites. And if you have a space to hang them, print out these fliers (English & Spanish) and post them where
families can see that help is nearby this summer. Thank you!
No Refrigerated Truck? Keep Food Safe When Transporting in the Heat!
All Agencies traveling more than 30 minutes in
non-refrigerated trucks to their food storage location are required to have
thermal blankets or coolers with ice packs to transport cool food. This
includes food picked up from FBR and food picked up from FBR’s donors. Food
must be kept at a safe temperature to avoid foodborne illness and ensure
clients’ wellbeing.
Need a blanket? We can help! 6’x6’ Heavy Thermal
Blankets are available to purchase from FBR (at our cost), $33.75 each.
