ERA Partners – Are You Using Your Food Credits Each Month?
FBR is Colorado
Department of Human Services’ (CDHS) authorized Regional Food Bank for
our 30 county service area in Colorado and issues monthly food credits to our participating
and eligible ERA partners (TEFAP & CSFP). We think it’s important for
clients to receive food, in addition to their USDA allotments. The CDHS TEFAP
Policy and Procedure Manual’s non-USDA food clause, while not stipulated by the
USDA, is required for FBR’s ERA partners to ensure food insecure individuals
receive this additional nutrition. And we give our ERA partners a food credit
to help make this possible.
Colorado
Department of Human Services, Food Distribution Program, The Emergency Food
Assistance Program Policy and Procedure Manual (excerpt):
IV.C.3 Regional Food Banks will
consider the following when selecting distribution site and/or congregate meal
feeding sites: h) Ability of the Distribution site to provide food from
non-USDA sources.
IV.C 4 Regional Food Banks will
ensure that all food pantries integrate both TEFAP USDA foods and non-USDA food
into the food package provided to households to the maximum extent possible.
How
Does the Credit Work?
Every month, eligible and
active ERAs receive a $50.00 food credit per program, posted to their FBR
Agency Relations Account, for compliant participation as a sub-agency
distributing CSFP and/or TEFAP.
- Eligible ERAs: FBR Partners with a 501(c)3/Public Charity
status & active FBR Agency Relations account and a properly executed
commodity sub-agency agreement.
Food Credit Guidelines:
- Posted & available the 1st
of each month.
- Covers Agency Support Fee (ASF) for donated
product only on future warehouse orders.
- Credits are not retroactive and will not
cover past due ASF balances.
- Credits will accrue to a maximum of
$150.00 per program. (Note: FBR prefers
partners to use food credits monthly.)
For questions regarding
warehouse ordering, please contact Agency Relations Division relations@foodbankrockies.org.
Partners
who have reached the $150.00 food credit maximum and haven’t ordered additional
FBR food, will be contacted to discuss the importance of staying compliant with
the non-USDA food distribution clause. If
non–compliance continues after being notified, partners risk having their CDHS
& FBR Application and Agreement terminated.
For questions regarding the Issued Food Credit please contact Su-z Moore,
USDA Administrative Supervisor 720-473-6323, ext. 26 or email
smoore@foodbankrockies.org.
