Are there seniors in your area who need help with food? Please ask your community and join us to spread the word.

Print and post the attached is a flyer in as many places as possible - your lobby, mail station, restrooms….so all seniors are aware of this needed assistance.

FBR wants to reach all eligible seniors so they get this needed nutrition. With your help, we can.

Is there something we can do to help you spread the word?  Let us know! Thank you for all you do for our seniors!

Meet Colin – Our New Mobile Pantry Supervisor!

colin.jpgWe’re excited to welcome Colin Fitzgerald to the FBR team.  He holds a Bachelors in Communications from St. John’s University and brings experience as a former Assistant Superintendent at Meridian Golf Club and Server at Lodo’s Bar and Grill. Colin is a familiar face for some at FBR who worked with him when he interned a few years ago with our volunteer and development teams.

Colin enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hiking, skiing and golfing. If he could go to any destination it would be Belize to experience the beautiful scenery and unique culture.

If he were and animal, Colin chooses an otter because they are friendly, playful, and resourceful.

Nutrition Labels are Full of Important Info

Did you know the nutrition labels you find on most products are broken into five important sections?

  1. Check out the serving size and servings per container.
  2. Find out how many calories are in a serving.
  3. Learn about the nutrients (fats, sugars, carbohydrates, sodium, cholesterol and protein).
  4. Discover what vitamins are in the serving.
  5. Read the footnotes to understand how a serving relates to your daily food intake.

Next time you pick up your favorite foods at the grocery store, check the label to learn more about what you’re eating. Then compare it to other items to see if it’s the best choice for you!
