Wishing for More Access to Fresh Produce? Check Out This New Opportunity!

Food Bank of the Rockies is excited to announce we will be purchasing and installing 40-foot refrigerated shipping container pantries in three locations around our service area – one in metro Denver area, one on the western slope, and one on eastern plains. These containers will provide easier access for partner agencies struggling to access fresh food from Food Bank of the Rockies’ warehouses. Central Texas Food Bank has a similar program you can learn about by clicking here.

We are looking for partners, both Food Bank of the Rockies agencies or other community organizations, who could host one of these containers. If you are interested in being part of this innovative way to distribute fresh produce, or if you know of any organization that might be, please reach out to Colleen or Guillermo. We’re excited to work with our community on this new project!

Thank you,

Is Your Site Closing or Expecting to Have Changes in Number of Children Served through Totes of Hope or Kids Cafe?

With the holiday season approaching, it is very important to share information with us about any site closures or meal count changes before they happen. Be sure to open and read emails from us that might contain information on alternative schedules or menu changes for both CACFP and Totes of Hope. Contact us to provide holiday changes to your site, NNOffice@foodbankrockies.org and let us know if we can answer any questions. Your prompt responses are appreciated, thank you!

Declutter and Recycle Your Old Electronics with Blue Star

Food Bank of the Rockies provides an annual electronic recycling program for our materials, and Food Bank of the Rockies’ Green Team encourages our partner agencies to do the same. We partner with local non-profit Blue Star, which is a recycling company that employs people living with disabilities. If you have old electronics or technology that you’re not using and don’t know how to dispose of, we encourage you to reach out to them to recycle those items and keep them out of the landfill. Do Some of Your Clients Struggle with Celiac Disease?

For those with celiac disease (CD), eating gluten can lead to serious short and long-term health side effects. Eating Gluten-Free (GF) excludes a lot of readily available, less expensive and nutritious food sources, including bread, breakfast cereals and pasta. Most processed food, such as soups, boxed and frozen meals contain gluten. At times it can be hard for people on a GF diet to find something to eat, and when they do it costs a lot of money.

To help support Gluten-Free people you may be serving, check out the Gluten-Free Food Assistance Guide from the National Celiac Association by following the link below. It provides detailed instructions and best practices on how to provide Gluten-Free options for your clients. Click here to download "The Facts" brochure, to help the public better understand celiac disease.
