Important Partner Updates for September

Thank You for Your Patience During our Upgrade!

Thank you for your support and patience while we suspended ordering services to upgrade CERES, our database system for inventory and our hunger relief partners. We are happy to report a successful transition across departments to this upgraded version. The new CERES 5 allows streamlined and improved processes to make us efficient behind the scenes to offer you better service.

Inclement Weather Is Here! Sign Up for Text Notifications About Your Delivery.

As summer comes to a close, we know the need to feed our neighbors remains high. We appreciate everything you’ve done to serve families through the recording-breaking heat and through our September snowstorm, and we know your programs will continue to nourish your communities as winter weather sets in soon. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this may be a snowy winter!

If your program is on a delivery schedule with us, metro or rural, please share a texting contact number with relations@foodbankrockies.org. We can text to notify you if your delivery route is canceled, delayed, or rescheduled. A quick text keeps you from missing our call or requiring you to log on to check emails!

July Quarterly Agency Pulse Survey

Thank you for participating in our first Quarterly Agency Pulse Survey. We received almost 300 responses! We know many of your programs are experiencing unprecedented increases in demand. We are grateful for the insightful information you shared with us about your specific needs. This feedback helps us determine the best ways to support your programs during the ongoing COVID-19 period.

Here are the results from this quarter’s survey.

Change in the number of clients served?

• 53% responded that the number of clients served has increased
• 21% responded that the number remained the same
• 25.% responded that the number decreased

Ability to serve all individuals in need?

• 44% stated they are not at all worried
• 37% slightly worried
• 19% moderately or very worried

In need of additional food?

• 39% have no additional need
• 61% have a need for additional food - the largest request was for fresh produce, followed by shelf-stable items

Watch for the next quarterly survey in late October or early November. Thanks in advance for your continued participation!

After-School Meals

Would your site like to be added to the fall after-school meal program?
There are many options to tailor the program to your needs this year, including fresh grab-n-go and shelf-stable meals, the ability to distribute multiple meals at once, and parent pick up. These options have been extended until June 30, 2021. Check with Brandy to see if your program is eligible to participate. And hurry - slots are filling up fast!

There are meal sites for kids 18 and under available across Colorado!
To help families find nearby meal programs, text "FOOD" or "COMIDA" to 877-877.

Ready to restart your Totes of Hope® program for the school year?

If you would like to restart your Totes of Hope program (our weekend food program for kids) or would like to start a program or add an additional Totes of Hope site to your offerings, please reach out to Brandy to learn more about eligibility, bwebb@foodbankrockies.org or 303-375-5862.

Requests for More Direct Delivery Options in Metro Denver

Food Bank of the Rockies’ transportation department is reviewing our ability to increase direct deliveries to metro Denver partners. Please email relations@foodbankrockies.org and let us know your interest so we can add your program to our list of possible deliveries.

Warehouse Minimum Order Reduced

Food Bank of the Rockies recognized that many hunger relief partners struggled to reach the 1,000-pound order minimum. To help make it easier to serve your community, we have reduced our order minimum to 500 pounds. We appreciate your partnership and are truly thankful for your compassion and efforts to nourish our community members.

Capacity Building Equipment

More than half of the responses from our quarterly Partner Agency Pulse Survey reflected limitations in storage capacity. Food Bank of the Rockies is ordering $750,000+ worth of shelving, refrigerators, freezers, walk-in units, etc. to support our hunger relief partners participating in government food program distributions. This opportunity was made possible through the CARES (USDA) funds addressing COVID-19 relief efforts.

P-EBT Deadline Approaching September 23 - Please Share This Resource with Families You Help!

Colorado families with school-aged children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals from schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program can get up to $279 per child per month in food benefits. Check here for your child's school. P-EBT is available to all eligible families regardless of immigration status; the Public Charge rule does NOT apply.

Most of the families who already received SNAP during March, April, and May need not take any extra steps to apply for P-EBT. Benefits will be added to their accounts. Families who did not receive SNAP benefits during that time are encouraged to apply online.

Help families you serve access this important pandemic benefit to support their children's health and wellbeing.

If you have any additional questions, please email Russel at rnylen@foodbankrockies.org.
