Food Bank of the Rockies needs volunteers all year long to help us with our programs. We're glad you've considered us when seeking a fun, productive activity for you or your group, family and friends!
We’d love to have you join us in Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope.

Note: ALL volunteers must be wearing closed toe shoes (no flip flops) and a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops) to volunteer at our warehouse.

          We recommend starting the process at least two weeks in advance to your requested volunteer date to allow us time to process your request and get you on the schedule.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (accompanied by an adult) or 16 years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer in our kitchen.

Please note, thanks to our generous volunteers, our 2012 Open Big Saturdays are FULL! If we can't accommodate your Saturday request, we encourage you to come volunteer with us another time!

Regular Volunteer Opportunities in Denver
(all at our warehouse location, excluding Nome!)

Most opportunities are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm, and select Saturdays (full for 2012!)

Distribution:
Help pull and build orders from warehouse inventory for our member agencies. Requires the ability to repetitively lift 10-20 lbs.
Community Kitchen:
Help with the preparation of meals for our Kid's Cafe program. Work may include prepping food, cooking, cleaning, and other duties. Must be 18 for this area. Very limited availability. 
USDA - Nome Street:
Help pull and build orders at our smaller warehouse just down the road for USDA programs. Requires the ability to repetitively lift 10-20 lbs.
USDA - CSFP Box Packing:
Work in an assembly line helping fill boxes with food for the USDA's food program. A wide variety of positions within this area are available from low impact to physical tasks. Great for groups! Additional tasks available on our open Saturdays.
Reclamation:
Help inspect, clean, sort and box items received through food drives and grocery rescues before they are distributed to clients via our member agencies. Low impact area.               
Office Work:
Limited availability. Occasionally need assistance with large mailings, phone call backs after events, along with some filing and other miscellaneous tasks. 
Nutrition Network - After School Snacks for Tutoring Program:
Help fill snack orders for this program and then transport the orders to the waiting vehicles from our warehouse. Available on Tuesdays.
Nutrition Network - Totes of Hope™ Programs:
Help fill our Totes of Hopefor children weekly and for seniors monthly. Great for small groups.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (accompanied by an adult) or 16 years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer in our kitchen.

Come dressed appropriately for warehouse work.  This includes wearing: Closed toed shoes and shirts with sleeves (no halters or tank tops please.)

Court ordered volunteers MUST fill out our online form to get started. We will consider misdemeanor court ordered community service on a case-by-case basis.

Parking:

Watch for the big Food Bank of the Rockies sign and turn into our parking lot at 10700 E. 45th Ave., just north of I-70 and east of Havana, between Embassy Suites and Denver Mattress.

 Park on the east side of our building between the Volunteer Parking signs. Enter at your shift start time through the Volunteer Entrance door and follow the yellow and black striped line on the floor to the purple wall Volunteer Area. There you'll see a table where you can sign-in.  Have a seat and we will put you to work shortly!

On the Western Slope:

The Western Slope Branch is particularly in need of assistance in the afternoon, and volunteer hours are flexible. Volunteers mainly help in the warehouse filling orders, doing light cleaning and occasional office work at our facility at 734 Scarlet Drive; Grand Junction, CO
